About This Class
The main aim of the VTCT Skills (ITEC) Level 4 Certificate in Pigmentation Treatment is to enable learners to gain the necessary practical skills and knowledge in order to provide pigmentation treatment to the general public and to gain employment in the spa and beauty Industry.
During the class, there will be opportunities for students to focus on the development of their wider skills in a pigmentation treatment setting, such as communicating with clients, working with others. Learners will develop skills in enhancing the client’s appearance using micro-pigmentation – to include consultation, skin (Fitzpatrick scale) and hair analysis, carrying out relevant tests prior to treatment, recognising contraindications and contra-actions, treating different areas including eyes, brows and lips and adapting the treatment to the client’s specific needs. Learners will also develop a range of skills, techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in employment as a pigmentation therapist.
This qualification is for students who want to work within the beauty therapy industry. It also provides the related knowledge and understanding required to perform the pigmentation treatment effectively in particular the anatomy and physiology of the human body and common diseases and disorders that may affect when a client should or should not receive treatment.
Course Outline
At the end of the class, the student will be able to:

Prepare self, client and work area for micro-pigmentation treatment

Use suitable consultation techniques to identify treatment objectives

Carry out skin and hair analysis and any relevant tests to identify any influencing factors

Provide clear recommendations to the client based on outcomes of skin analysis

Select products, tools and equipment to suit client treatment needs, skin types and conditions

Select personal protective equipment that should be worn by client and self during micro-pigmentation treatment

Explain the contra-indications that prevent or restrict micro-pigmentation treatment

Follow health and safety working practices in line with organisational and legislative procedures

Provide aftercare advice for micro-pigmentation treatment​

The learner will also develop knowledge about related health and safety and client care and communication which is essential to work and be successful in the industry.

Entry Requirements
18 years old and above
​Obtained a pass in GCE N level equivalent English or Chinese as 2nd language proficiency. Foreign students will be assessed by the course advisor for suitability.

Course Duration
The qualification consists of 2 mandatory unit with a total of 119 hours (15 days) of Guided Learning (GL) to achieve the full qualification.

Examination Requirements
Students must attain 75% attendance and 45 hours of tutorials to be eligible to take the examinations and achieve 60% to pass the examination.
