About This Class
The main aim of the VTCT Skills (ITEC) Level 3 Award in Body Massage is to enable learners to gain the necessary practical skills and knowledge in order to provide body massage to the general public and to gain employment in the spa and beauty Industry.

During the class, there will be opportunities for students to focus on the development of their wider skills in a body massage setting, such as communicating with clients, working with others. The learner will also develop knowledge about client care and communication which is essential in order to work and be successful in the industry. Learners will also develop a range of skills, techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in employment as a massage therapist.
This qualification is for students who want to work within the beauty therapy industry. It also provides the related knowledge and understanding required to perform the body massage effectively in particular the anatomy and physiology of the human body and common diseases and disorders that may affect when a client should or should not receive treatment.
Course Outline
At the end of the class, the student will be able to:

Identifying skin types, general body types, different types of fat

Identifying different contraindications

Selecting suitable massage mediums for the client’s skin type such as oil, cream or powder

Perform classical massage movements and mechanical massage

Perform pre-heat treatments

Adapting the treatment to the client’s specific needs

The learner will also develop knowledge about related health and safety and client care and communication which is essential to work and be successful in the industry.

Entry Requirements
16 years old and above
​Obtained a pass in GCE N level equivalent English or Chinese as 2nd language proficiency. Foreign students will be assessed by the course advisor for suitability.

Course Duration
The qualification consists of 1 mandatory unit with a total of 84 hours (10.5 days) of Guided Learning (GL) to achieve the full qualification.

Examination Requirements
Students must attain 75% attendance and 6 hours of tutorials to be eligible to take the examinations and achieve 60% to pass the examination.
